Just over a week to go!!!

Well its just over a week to go before registration begins for the Parish Walk and the big day is only 9 days away.  Its unbelievable, its come round so quickly this year!!!!  If you are considering completing any distance this year you should be tapering off your training and concentrating on the finer details like organising  your support drivers, getting in supplies of food, drink and medical supplies.  Make sure you discuss with your support driver where your first few stops will be, last year we didn't need our support driver till Arbory that was to replenish gels drinks and to grab a sandwich! It was then the top of the Sloc for our next.  There are plenty of food stations along the way certainly till Peel and very generous members of the public who not only give great support but are handing out goodies like bananas and water.
Stretching is good this week to keep you nice and supple, don't over do anything and don't try anything new !!!

Our Medical kit last year contained the following, plasters, compeeds, deep heat, freeze spray, insect repellant, Imodium, Salt Tablets, pain killers (but be careful what you take!!!), Sun cream (Factor 30 in my case!!!) Antiseptic spray, vaseline and sudo cream.  To be honest we didn't use all the stuff and this is just a guide!
Dont forget your head torch and lights!!!!!, Complete spare kit, and warm clothing plus Waterproof stuff including bottoms.  A blanket for the finish and journey home.

All in all relax, take it easy get a sports massage if you can! trust in the miles you have done and that they will carry you around the course.  Its a massive achievement, if you are successful enough to complete it and next time you are in an airplane coming into land and if the weather is good enough it will give you a warm glow inside when you see just how big the island is.

There is only just over 1800 finishers of the Parish Walk and this year you never know you may go in the hall of fame for the 1900th finisher or even 2000th ever finisher.

Stay calm and have a great week relaxing
Keep Right On till next week and I will update and preview the big event next Thursday or Friday !
