I have a lot to live up to with my blog with last years bloggers Richard Gerrard, Ed Walter and
John Watterson - their blogs being informative, funny, easy to read and full of tips - No Pressure Then!!!!!!
I just hope that my blog can be half as popular as these blogs were.
So how and why this all started??? Those people who know me or followed last years blog
85 vs 1 Keep Right on to the End of the Road!!!!
will know the answer but I will quickly explain all. If you would like to have a read of my previous blog feel free to click on it.The idea about walking 85 miles and taking part in the Parish Walk came about as part of a bet / pact between my brother and I. It was a drunken night out with a great Indian meal that set the scene and cast the quest in stone!!! Before I knew it my brother had signed up for Parish Walk 2012 on New Years Eve, so not to be outdone I signed straight up myself, there was no turning back, initially I thought the idea of getting to Peel and no further was fine but my brother said "If we are going to do it, we are going to finish the whole lot!" and so that was that training started on 2nd January 2012 and I was instantly hooked.
I find walking a total release, getting out in the fresh country air, listening to music and keeping fit, I could lose myself and de-stress from a busy day/night at work.
Why am I writing this blog now and why did I write the last one??? Well quite simply it focused the mind, kept me on the right track and it will be a timeline for my journey that can be looked back on in the future by anyone more importantly my kids.
So who am I??? more commonly known as Tony, I'm married, have two wonderful girls 10 & 6 and am a stopover on this wonderful Island!!! What do I do, lets just say that I am insatiably curious and can see around corners! I am also an avid Birmingham City Fan and like to walk dogs amongst other things and love jet skiing when I can get out on one!!!!!
I will apologize now to any Aston Villa fans that may read this, its quite often that I will have a dig at the second cities smaller club, I don't mean any offence (well that's not true!) but its all said in jest, I will KeepRightOn with this and if you don't like it then you can always change and support a proper club!
I found this telephone helpline for any depressed Villa fans in light of their bad run at the moment its a freephone number too 0800 8-0 4-0 3-0
Last year was my first attempt at the Parish Walk and now I am looking at back to back finishes this year. Last year I completed it with my brother also on his Parish Debut in a time of 22hrs 43 mins, we are claiming a bit of Parish history being the first brothers to complete the event on our first attempt.
I do hope that I don't repeat myself during this blog but I think its important to share my tips, hints and training regimes so I will apologize (sincerely this time) if you have read any of my content before, bare with me please!!!! The trick of writing a blog is to keep hold of the audience and to come up with something original.
Anyone has anything interesting they would like to share or any helpful hints / tips they use then please do get in touch I would love to hear from you guys, knowledge is the bomb!!!
Last year in my blog I placed lots of pictures, movie clips and music videos, I intend to keep this going and this year I will adding positive quotations to keep us all going!!!!
Richard M. DeVos
Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push. A smile. A word of optimism and hope. A "you can do it" when things are tough.
So that's about it from me on this post, all there is left for me to do is to welcome you all to my blog and thank you for reading, down to business now!!!!
Nice one Tony. I enjoyed last year's blog and I trust this years ramblings will be equally entertaining and informative ;) Looking forward to another great year of walking. We must try and get together for a training walk at some point. There don't seem to be too many of us Down North which is a shame, as the roads around Jurby, Andreas and Bride are perfect - when they aren't flooded or covered in Ice!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the realms of official blog-dome, I look forward to following your progress again this year. A note to anyone out there, if you get chance, have a read of Tony's blog from last year - a really good and inspiring read !!
